Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan Update

The City’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan was updated in 2012. This plan lays out a vision for the parks and recreation systems and policies. Adopted by City Council on May 14, 2012, this plan is an appendix in the city’s Comprehensive Plan.

The Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PRO) Plan is a component of the City’s Comprehensive Plan and is updated every 6 years to remain current with the needs of the community, to comply with the Growth Management Act (GMA) requirements, and to remain eligible for grant programs through the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO).

Our current plan was adopted by City Council on May 14, 2012.

Update July 26, 2010
A big thanks to everyone who participated in our public survey. We had a statistically valid telephone survey, and a website survey that was open to all residents of Sammamish. Read about the results in the Executive Summary.

Update April 20, 2010
We finished our 10 initial community meetings and all the comments are now posted on the "documents" page (go to header at the top of this page). We also presented the comments to the City Council and the Parks Commission last night. The slide show is posted from that meeting, as well as a "priority matrix" that lists some of the repeat comments we heard at many of the meetings.

February 2010
We are kicking off our public listening campaign. We want to hear from you about the future of our parks and recreation programs. Please attend one or more of the upcoming 10 public meetings. These meetings will focus on community desires, goals and priorities for the future of our parks, open spaces, trails, recreation and cultural programs and arts.
