I am the President of the Jazz Run HOA. Jazz Run is a community built by Summit Homes. The community is located on SE 48th St -the street that Tees off of Issaquah-Pine Lake Road. This is also the street that borders the cities of Issaquah and Sammamish. The entrance to the Jazz Run community has an island divider that is built in a weird shape - apparently it has been built to prevent a left turn coming out of the community. This is a big problem for all Jazz Run Homeowners right now and we don't understand why the divider had to be built this way. I understand this divider is City of Sammamish's right of way and that there was some traffic safety studies done which may have resulted in the island divider being built the way it is. I have spoken to both Summit Homes and the City of Sammamish and they both seem to be pointing at each other as far as who made the decision to build the divider this way.
I am requesting a copy of the plan from the city of Sammamish that shows:
1. A report on the traffic safety study and its findings
2. The options recommended to the developer by the City of Sammamish on how the island divider could me built
My goal is to have this divider be rebuilt so a left turn coming out of the community is natural and easy. I do not believe there is any traffic safety issue there. I believe even if there is a traffic safety issue there should be a better way of dealing with it than building a divider that outright prohibits a left turn coming out of the community
