Sammamish Art Commission's Sand Sculpture Coming to Sammamish Commons August 12-16

Release Date: August 10, 2019

The Sammamish Arts Commission presents internationally renown and local sand artist, Sue McGrew, who will maneuver 16 tons of sand into Sammamish's first sand sculpture in celebration of this year’s Sammamish Party on the Plateau event.

Sue has traveled the world to over 60 competitions and dozens of festivals in over 30 countries. Her flowing organic style and expressive figures have won numerous awards in sand, snow and ice.  Sue starred on travel Chanel’s TV show Sand Masters, a program about the worldwide adventures of a group of American sand sculptors.  She later teamed up with Sand Guys International to break the 2014 Guinness World Record for Tallest Sand Castle in Rio de Janeiro.

The Arts Commission and City of Sammamish are excited to bring her talents to the community to create a sand sculpture that represents our City.  This sculpture will be constructed and displayed in front of City Hall at Sammamish Commons.  Please come down during the construction or when it’s completed to  see this great master piece.  Please share your photos with us! #SammamishSand
