Council Votes to Move Forward with Interim City Manager Contract

Release Date: February 07, 2020

At Tuesday night’s City Council meeting, the Council voted 5-2 to direct the City Attorney to negotiate an interim City Manager contract with Dave Rudat.

Mr. Rudat is the former City Manager for Orange, California, where he began his career as a firefighter before becoming the city’s fire chief. More recently, he has served as Interim City Manager for the cities of Los Alamitos and Alameda, California, and his most recent position was as the Interim Fire Chief for Stockton, California.

The contract with Mr. Rudat would be for a 6-month term, with the option for a month-to-month extension. As part of the vetting process, at the direction of the City Council, the King County Sheriff’s Office Background Unit performed a background check for the candidate. Once the terms of the contract are finalized with Mr. Rudat, the City Council will formally approve it at an open, public meeting in the coming weeks.
