On Tuesday night, the City Council voted to appoint David L. Rudat to the position of Interim City Manager, which became effective the afternoon of Wednesday, February 19.
“The position of Interim City Manager bears great responsibility, which I’m honored to be tasked with,” said Rudat. “The community is counting on the City staff to do our very best work on their behalf, and that’s what I’m committed to achieving. Sammamish is facing unique challenges that demand immediate attention. I’m eager to get to work!”
Mr. Rudat has four decades of leadership experience in local government and is the former City Manager for Orange, California, where he began his career as a firefighter before becoming the city’s fire chief. More recently, he has served as Interim City Manager for the cities of Los Alamitos and Alameda, California, and his most recent position was as the Interim Fire Chief for Stockton, California.
“Achieving the goals of Council, as charged by the residents, while guiding the staff to work cohesively with Council to serve the community is going to bring excellent results to this beautiful city,” said Rudat.
Mayor Karen Moran says of the new Interim City Manager, “We are very excited to have someone with so much experience, who has come so highly recommended. This is a huge win for the residents of Sammamish.”
The contract between Mr. Rudat and the City of Sammamish is for a 6-month term, with the option for a month-to-month extension thereafter.
