Scott MacColl Appointed Interim City Manager

Release Date: May 04, 2022

The City of Sammamish is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott MacColl as Interim City Manager.

Scott originally joined the City as Deputy City Manager in May 2021. In April 2022, he took on the short-term role of Acting City Manager while his employment contract to become Interim City Manager was being developed. City Council unanimously approved Scott’s nine-month Interim contract during their Regular Meeting on May 3, 2022.

Scott has worked in the public sector for over 20 years, primarily focused on issues at the municipal level. Before joining the City, he owned a local government relations practice, working on behalf of cities on local and federal issues. Prior to that, he worked at the City of Shoreline as their Government Relations Manager and for the Seattle City Council on their professional policy staff. He also spent time in Olympia working in the legislature on its non-partisan professional policy committee.

"Council looks forward to working with Scott," said Mayor Christie Malchow. "We felt he not only had the ability, but the right qualities to execute this role during this time of change."

“I’ve committed my career to public service and am excited to continue this work as Sammamish’s Interim City Manager alongside our dedicated Council and team of public servants,” said MacColl.

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Scott holds a Master's in Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington and is a proud Husky.

While Scott serves as Interim City Manager, the Council will conduct a nationwide recruitment for a permanent City Manager.
