On June 8, 2022, Councilmember Christie Malchow announced her resignation from the Sammamish City Council to spend more time with her family, effective June 12, 2022. Councilmember Malchow was serving as mayor at the time of her resignation.
During the City Council meeting on Tuesday evening, City Council and members of the public recognized Councilmember Malchow for her passion, commitment, and years of service to the community. Councilmember Malchow was first elected by voters in 2015, serving a four-year term, and was re-elected in 2019 to a second four-year term. During her tenure, Council appointed her to one term as deputy mayor in 2017 and two terms as mayor, in 2018-2019 and again in 2022-2023.
