Release Date: March 06, 2018

The City of Sammamish Urban Forest Management Plan Workshop series invites you to Get to Know Your Urban Forest Ecosystem, on Wednesday, March 28 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chamber.

The Get to Know Your Urban Forest Ecosystem information session will be led by the University of Washington Urban Ecology Research Laboratory. Topics to be covered include:

  • What is ‘Urban Ecology’?
  • How can urban design promote urban forests?
  • What challenges do our urban forest face locally and regionally?
  • What is the future of our urban forest ecosystem?

The Get to Know Your Urban Forest Ecosystem information session is part of the development of the City’s first Urban Forest Management Plan. This community-wide planning process, which will be jointly led by a consultant and City staff, will set the City's priorities for the management, protection, and promotion of the urban forest.

“Our urban forests are one of our greatest community assets,” said City Manager Lyman Howard.

“In the City’s 2015 Comprehensive Plan Update we prioritized the development of an Urban Forest Management Plan so that we could better understand, manage, and preserve this asset. I look forward to extensive community participation as we move forward with the creation of this plan.”
