The City of Sammamish is pleased to welcome its newest Chief of Police, Daniel Pingrey, who will begin in his new role Monday, December 2.

Pingrey is no stranger to Sammamish, having grown up on the Plateau before the City was incorporated. In fact, he’s no stranger to the Sammamish Police Department either: He was Assistant Chief and Administrative Sergeant from 1999 to 2005 and has served as Captain for the King County Sheriff’s Office out of their Sammamish City Hall location since April 2018. He began his law enforcement career as a Police Officer for the City of Kirkland in 1986, and he looks forward to continuing to work with the Sheriff and other KCSO staff to maintain an innovative, positive, cooperative environment that allows the Sammamish Police Department to best serve the Citizens of Sammamish.

Our departing Chief of Police, Michelle Bennett, has been promoted to the rank of Major within the King County Sheriff’s Department and will be moving on to a different precinct. Bennett made City history by becoming Sammamish’s first female police chief in 2016, and she will be missed by all. We’re excited to see where Chief Bennett’s career takes her, and we’re looking forward to a great future with Chief Pingrey.
