Permits are Required
Any construction-related project on property located in the City of Sammamish must be permitted. Projects must receive a permit or permits issued by the City’s building division, per SMC 16.20.195 “Permits Required”:
“Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any gas, mechanical or plumbing system, the installation of which is regulated by this code and SMC Title 16.05, or to cause any such work to be done, shall first make application to the Permit Center and obtain the required permit.”
This applies unless the work is specifically “Exempt From A Permit” per SMC16.20.200. Please note: these exemptions only apply to required "building" permits. Other permits may still be required for work exempt from a building permit. For example, see SMC 16.15.050 for work that requires (or is exempted from) a "tree removal" or "grading" permit (also known as a "Clearing and Grading Permit").
Please contact the Permit Center directly at PermitTech@sammamish.us if you have questions regarding your submittal.
