Sammamish Public Works Department is recruiting one (2) Maintenance Worker II position for the Public Works division.
This is a journey level position that performs general and specialized road, sidewalk, sign and marking and drainage maintenance duties on assigned city public works infrastructure and other city facilities. Operates a range of medium and heavy equipment. Provides support for special events. May perform duties of similar complexity in other maintenance areas as required or assigned. Constructs small public works capital improvement projects. The City of Sammamish is recruiting for Seasonal Maintenance Workers to work up to four (4) months in Parks & Recreation throughout the summer beginning as early as May 1, or at a reasonably agreed upon start date no later than June 15, 2018. All employees will be under the supervision of the Parks Maintenance Supervisor and wage will be dependent on experience. Technical and field leadership is provided by the full-time lead Parks Maintenance Worker.
Because of the small size of the city staff, each staff member is expected to perform a wide range of field duties as may be required from time to time. This position is eligible to earn overtime for hours worked over forty (40) per workweek.
Below is the specific job description.
Under the supervision of the Building Official, the Senior Building Inspector inspects both residential and non-residential structures during construction for structural and non-structural integrity compliance with the International Building, Mechanical, Fuel Gas, Fire, Uniform Plumbing Code, State Energy as well as other State laws and City of Sammamish Ordinances and Policies. This involves the ability to understand and inspect all aspects of the approved construction drawings including engineering and structural design, interpreting and applying codes and regulations, assisting with the review and evaluation of proposals for new materials, and preparing corrections notices when appropriate.
This position serves in a technical leadership capacity for the Building Division and is able to handle the most complicated inspection situations. The position provides scheduling, oversight, and assistance to Building Inspectors.
This position will be responsible for the development, maintenance and operation of an inspection-tracking program, and for providing weekly and monthly summaries to the Building Official. The person filling this position is expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties as may be required from time to time. This is a full-time professional position, requiring advanced knowledge of the wide range of building and life safety inspection responsibilities and duties. The position is non-exempt (FLSA) and serves at-will, at the pleasure and discretion of the City.
The Senior Building Inspector works under the direct supervision of the Building Official in the Building Division of the Community Development Department.
