Celebrate the Lunar New Year with the City of Sammamish

The City of Sammamish invites community members to the Second Annual Lunar New Year Celebration, which will take place on Saturday, February 2, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Central Washington University’s Sammamish campus on 120 228th Ave NE.  

The celebration will feature performers from throughout Sammamish’s diversely talented international community and will include activities centered around cultural and ceremonial traditions.  Highlights will include a vibrant lion dance, a martial arts demonstration, music, dance, and visual arts. There will also be a variety of interactive booths and activities – including paper lantern-making and viewing of a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. This event is free and open to audiences of all ages.   

As parking at the event is limited, attendees are strongly encouraged to utilize a free shuttle bus service from Eastlake High School. The shuttle bus will be operating from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. the day of the event.  

This event is presented by the City of Sammamish, the Sammamish YMCA, Central Washington University-Sammamish, Skyline High School Chinese Classes, Seattle Chinese New Immigrants Center, Sammamish Chinese School and WaHaHa Youth Club.
