Mary Beth Mercer promoted to Human Resources Manager

City Manager Dave Rudat has announced the promotion of Mary Beth Mercer to Human Resources Manager for the City of Sammamish.

Ms. Mercer joined the City in June 2019 as the Senior Human Resources Analyst, with the goal of establishing a fully functional Human Services Department. Prior to joining the City, Mary Beth was with Washington State Department of Transportation as a Senior Human Resource Consultant Level 4, managing the licensed deck division, and the drug and alcohol/safety program for all Washington State Ferries employees. Mary Beth has her bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and is currently pursuing her Juris Master’s degree.

During Mercer’s time with the City she has created and streamlined personnel processes, activated recruitment and retention initiatives, managed the City’s employee benefits program, and established successful training and compliance programs.

“Mary Beth works tirelessly to resolve issues between management and employees while implementing policies and processes that help and assist our employees, all remarkable accomplishments during these times of COVID-19,” said Rudat.  “Her loyalty to the City and its employees is steadfast. Managing these Human Resources systems contributes to a successful City culture, and helps to produce a strong team.  With the assistance of Morgan-Knight Hermann and the supervision of Debbie Beadle, I know the Human Resources department will continue to have a positive impact on the City and its staff.”

Ms. Mercer’s promotion is effective immediately.
