Important Update from the City of Sammamish

Release Date: January 23, 2019
URGENT UPDATE:
The City’s computer system is currently under a ransomware attack.

Interim City Manager Larry Patterson has declared an emergency; this allows the city to bring in a security expert to help deal with the situation without having to go through the regular contracting procedures.

The security expert will assist the city with:

1. Assessing which systems have been affected.

2. The level of penetration.

3. What will be required to release the data.

At this point we know that the city’s internal shared files have been affected.

We are working on this in real time, which means the information we have changes quickly.

This is very fluid situation and we want to make sure we're doing what is best for you and for the city.

We are actively working on two fronts - one to deal with the attack itself; the other is to implement business continuity measures.

As a precaution to protect our residents and businesses we have taken down MyBuildingPermit and our map services.

SeeClickFix is a third party system and is still working.

We understand there are many questions about this process, and are committed to keeping you informed throughout our response to the situation.
