Serving on one of the Sammamish’s boards or commissions can be a fascinating and rewarding experience!

WHY SERVE?

Sammamish’s Boards and Commissions are designed to give residents and business owners a voice in their government and allow them to help with the decisions that shape the quality of life for our community. Participation on a board or commission is one of the most effective steps an individual can take in becoming an active voice in their government.

In addition, the skills, commitment, talent, knowledge and enthusiasm of our community board and commission volunteers enhance those of our elected officials, and help ensure that our local government is truly addressing the needs of the Sammamish community through the services, planning, and decision making provided by each board.

What can I do?

The City has openings for volunteer positions on the following Commissions:

  • Arts Commission - 4 openings
  • Human Services Commission - 2 openings 
  • Parks & Recreation Commission - 3 openings 
  • Planning Commission - 2 openings 

How do I get involved?

  • All terms begin on February 2020.
  • Most terms are for four years.
  • This is a volunteer position and attendance at night meetings is required.

  • All candidates will be interviewed at an open City Council meeting which is scheduled for January 14, 2020 starting at 6:30 pm in the City Council chambers located at 801 228th Avenue SE, Sammamish, WA 98075.
