Ziply Fiber Service Expansion Project – Permit Status Update

Ziply Fiber has been coordinating with the City of Sammamish since summer of 2025 regarding the resubmittal of its service expansion permit application.

As part of the City’s review process, the applicant is required to provide detailed engineering drawings identifying existing right-of-way, public utility easements, and other public infrastructure. This includes subsurface utility investigations (potholing) to physically verify the location of underground utilities and minimize potential conflicts during construction. An arborist assessment has also been required to evaluate trees within the project area and to provide appropriate tree protection recommendations.

Ziply Fiber Service Expansion in Sammamish

The City of Sammamish has issued a permit to Ziply Fiber for service expansion within the City's arterial corridor along 228th Ave NE between Inglewood Hill Rd and 233rd Ave NE. As part of the City's review, Ziply was required to submit detailed engineering drawings identifying existing right-of-way, public utility easements, and other public infrastructure to confirm compliance.

 

Current construction

Work under this permit is underway along 228th Ave NE between Inglewood Hill Rd and 233rd Ave NE. Construction began in the summer of 2026 and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2026. Residents traveling through this area may encounter lane restrictions or temporary traffic control.

 

Residential neighborhoods

Ziply has not yet submitted a permit application for service expansion in residential areas. As a result, there is no construction start date and no confirmed residential coverage. Questions about whether a specific address will receive service should be directed to Ziply. The City reviews and issues permits for work in the public right-of-way. The City review will continue to focus on compliance and the protection of both public and private assets.
