Ziply Fiber Service Expansion Project – Permit Status Update

Ziply Fiber has been coordinating with the City of Sammamish since summer of 2025 regarding the resubmittal of its service expansion permit application.

As part of the City’s review process, the applicant is required to provide detailed engineering drawings identifying existing right-of-way, public utility easements, and other public infrastructure. This includes subsurface utility investigations (potholing) to physically verify the location of underground utilities and minimize potential conflicts during construction. An arborist assessment has also been required to evaluate trees within the project area and to provide appropriate tree protection recommendations.

The permit is anticipated to be issued in early April, with construction expected to begin shortly thereafter. Construction is anticipated to last approximately 3 to 4 months.

Project Location and Construction Impacts

Construction is planned along 228th Ave NE between Inglewood Hill Rd and 233rd Ave NE.

During construction, residents can expect:

  • Temporary lane closures
  • Lane shifting to accommodate work zones

Nearby residents will be notified in advance through door hangers as construction progresses.

Construction Oversight and Safety

City inspectors, engineering staff, and utility representatives will be on-site to oversee construction activities. This coordination is intended to:

  • Review permit compliance
  • Verify implementation of approved traffic control plans for public safety
  • Monitor work to reduce risk of utility conflicts
  • Review proper restoration
