Sammamish Police Explorers

The King County Sheriff's Office Explorer Program is a volunteer program for individuals between the ages of fourteen and twenty-one who are interested in investigating a career in the field of law enforcement. The program will allow you to see, first hand, whether this is a career you would like to pursue. By working with the Sheriff's Office and Deputies, you will discover what a career in law enforcement actually entails. It is an experience that no book, job description, nor TV show can accurately depict. The explorer post has a rank structure similar to the Sheriff's Office. There are academies to attend, and by riding with Deputies on patrol you will experience the exciting, action filled moments of a code response to an in-progress call, as well as the quite times of early morning when everyone but you seems to be asleep safe in their beds. Also, through guest speakers you will have the opportunity to sample specialized units such as SWAT, Drug Enforcement, K-9, Search and Rescue, Marine Patrol, Bomb Disposal, Traffic, Accident Investigation, and Air Support.
