Car Seat Safety Inspections

Auto accidents are the number one cause of death for children 6 months and up in the United States. Proper use of child car seats is one of the most simple and effective ways to protect children’s lives. Only the correct use of child car seats will offer the protection that children need.

We all want our children to travel safely in cars. Installing a car seat for younger children and babies can be a challenge. The Sammamish Police Department has two certified child-passenger safety technicians who can check to confirm car seats are installed correctly. During your 1-hour appointment, you will be shown how to use and install a car seat on your own, and how to properly buckle your child into their seat for safe travel.       

Each appointment is approximately 60 minutes long. This appointment covers proper installation of your car seat into the car using both lap/shoulder belt and LATCH methods. We will also instruct you on how to harness the child (or doll) into the seat.

Please be aware when booking your appointment that both of our technicians are on-duty police officers and may cancel an appointment with short notice to due calls for service. Our officers make every effort to ensure scheduled appointments are made and rarely need to cancel.
