Human Services Commission

The City Council recently approved the formation of a seven-member Human Services Commission to act as an advisory group that will provide guidance to City Council on how best to meet the human service needs of the City. The Human Services Commission will officially commence work in February 2018 and will hold regular meetings at City Hall every second Wednesday of the month from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.

Responsibilities

The Commission will make recommendations to the City Council on topics such as: 

  • Development of human services in Sammamish
  • Determination of human services priorities 
  • Human services grants and funding requests
  • Emerging human services issues or concerns

Commissioner Applications

We are looking for interested members of the public to fill all seven positions of the new Human Services Commission. Applications will be accepted until December 1, 2017 for the following positions:

  • Position 1:  1 year term
  • Position 2:  1 year term
  • Position 3:  2 year term
  • Position 4:  2 year term
  • Position 5:  3 year term
  • Position 6:  3 year term
  • Position 7:  4 year term

The City Council will review applications and appoint Commissioners to one of the terms listed above. Following these initial term lengths, the Commission will switch to staggered four-year terms.
