More About the TMP
The TMP reflects Sammamish’s need for a better transportation system.
Since its incorporation from King County in 1999, Sammamish has grown from a population of less than 30,000 to a population of over 65,000. Some of Sammamish’s transportation challenges include a relatively unconnected street system, limited transit service, and a topography that makes active modes of transportation difficult for many users.
A better transportation system is one that is accessible, prioritizes connectivity, and accommodates equitable access to various modes of travel, including walking, biking, public transit, and driving. This TMP provides the opportunity for Sammamish to proactively shape its transportation vision and goals as described in the City’s Comprehensive Plan.
The TMP prioritizes projects, programs, and strategies that advance the transportation vision and goals, meet Growth Management Act (GMA) requirements, and reflect input from the Sammamish community.
How Improvements Are Made
The City’s Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) is the framework for how projects are evaluated and considered for programming over a six year period.
Please visit the TIP page for information on project programming, or the Capital Improvements page for status updates on specific projects that are underway. The Traffic Engineering page includes information about how the City monitors, operates, and maintains intersections, streetlights, and road markings in Sammamish.
How the City Keeps a Growing Community Moving
City planners, development review engineers, traffic engineers, inspectors, and maintenance teams review development applications to manage impacts to transportation and rights of way during and after construction.
Learn more about how transportation planning and regulations help Sammamish keep moving now and in the future on the Transportation Planning page.
